Vatican Council II is traditional or liberal depending on how you interpret the Letter of the Holy Office
Vatican Council II is traditional or liberal. It depends on how you interpret the Letter of the Holy Office 1949.
If you consider Cardinal Francesco Marchetti Selvaggiani who issued the Letter to the Archbishop of Boston as not being in heresy, not making a mistake, then the Council emerges as non traditional. It is a rupture with the past
If you consider Fr.Leonard Feeney, the subject of the Letter, as not being in heresy, not making a mistake, then the Council is not a break with Tradition. It has a continuity with the past
It's as simple as that.
Why?
Since for Cardinal Marchetti there was known salvation outside the Church.People who are in Heaven were assumed to be seen on earth, visible in the flesh.
So they became for him exceptions to extra ecclesiam nulla salus.
These cases in Heaven, apparitions, became a break with Tradition and the dogma. This was the reasoning used.Hypothetical cases became objective exceptions.
This is irrational.Yet this was the reasoning of the second part of the Letter of the Holy Office 1949.So we have a hermeneutic of rupture using Marchetti's reasoning.
Marchetti's error has been accepted by the magisterium since 1949. It is approved by the political Left, which condmens Feeneyism. It is now magisterial.
Feeneyism is traditional. It does not accept any exceptions to the dogma.
It does not reason irrationally. So Vatican Council II is not a break with the dogma. There is no ambiguity in Vatican Council II with Feeneyism.
So interpret Vatican Council II with the Marchetti error ( dead-saved and visible on earth) and LG 16,LG 8, UR 3, NA 2 are objective exceptions to the dogma. This is irrational reasoning.
Yet this is how Catholics interpret Vatican Council II.
Choose Tradition.
Choose Vatican Council II.Avoid the Marchetti error.
