Schism over Vatican Council II ?
Cardinals Kasper,Koch, Muller,Wuerl and Ladaria would not affirm the obvious I mentioned in a previous blog post 1 and so could go into schism when Pope Francis announces that all references to hypothetical cases in Vatican Council II must only be interpreted as being hypothetical only. They are not objectively known people in 2017 saved outside the Catholic Church.Possibilities, past or present, are not visibly known people.
Once he makes this announcement on a subject which is obvious and common knowledge, there will be a protest from those who want to interpret Vatican Council II irrationally.
1).The pope would be admitting that the magisterium made an objective mistake in the Fr.Leonard Feeney case and 2) Vatican Council II with hypothetical cases not considered explicit examples of salvation outside the Church, would not contradict the strict interpretation of the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus (Extra Ecclesiam Nulla Salus).
So Cardinals Kasper, Koch and the other cardinals would have to affirm Vatican Council II in harmony with the past exclusivist ecclesiology of the Catholic Church.
They will rebel?
Then what if Cardinal Castrilliion Hoyas, Cardinal Raymond Burke and others affirm that they offer the Traditional Latin Mass with Vatican Council II in harmony with the strict interpretation of extra ecclesiam nulla salus ? Would this be unacceptable for many people?
For me too there is a choice. I can choose the rational or irrational interpretation of Vatican Council II. I choose the rational one.Presently all the cardinals mentioned here, including Hoyas and Burke, choose the irrational interpretation.-Lionel Andrades
