Having a few free moments I thought I would post something on the forum that doesn't have to do with Extra Ecclesiam Nulla Salus.

I have a friend that lived in the Czech Republic for many years. He told me that the Czechs used to tell him that one of the big problems during communism was that communism basically eliminated the need for men, other then just insemination. Specifically, if the State takes care of all the material needs of the children, there really is not a need for a "provider" because the State has taken away this role. Therefore many men in communism just became drunks. They were no longer needed.

Working in a company that deals with a lot to do with the medical field, I have learned a bit about the welfare programs that are out there for single mothers.

For example, if you are a poor woman who is single you are on your own with regards to food and insurance. HOWEVER, once the same single woman has a child (or two or three) the State will put her on an HMO insurance plan which will cover her children's medical care as well as HER medical care. The government will even pay for TRANSPORTATION to doctor's appointments. She will have NO co-pay.

However, if the child's father were to stick around and work a job the children would more than likely NOT be eligible for the public aid. Therefore, on a financial level it is actually more beneficial for the man to NOT stay around.

Granted, I am not completely against government programs to help the poor (I don't go for this whole libertarian BS that is being promoted among conservatives), but is this not a DIABOLICAL attack on the family? It sounds like the same phenomena that happened during communism.

This is already the case in Ireland and the UK where couples now are better off finacially (and housing wise) not being married and therefore many of them bring up families outside of marriage in order to benefit from the state allowances for unmarried mothers.

This is often an issue at election times where the poloticians cry crocodile tears about the hardships endured by married couples who fall outside the benefits net offered to the non-traditional set ups.

I think most of Europe is in thhe same boat. It is imo a communist arrangemant endevouring to make traditional marriage obsolete.
I listened to a few more of those Fr Wathen talks and he speaks much about ths.

Our Lady of Fatima did warn that Russia would spread her errors throughout the world.
The present arrangement of (so-called) democracy is nothing more than communism in weak disguise.

This link is an interesting little summary of Communism in the United States. It is from a talk of Fr. John Hardon's. Actually, the 3 talks transcribed on Communism in the Archives are very interesting.
