Why do women like Oprah so much?
This question is perhaps directed at the ladies on this forum..... I can't figure out....why is it that women like Oprah so much? I don't get it. I have watched her show before and it just seems lame, but in my experience the only women that don't like Oprah are traditional or conservative Catholic women.
I mean I know some women that like Oprah so much they talk about her as if she were a member of the family! You can't make jokes about her show either, LOL.

I think you're asking the wrong women!
Even before my (re)conversion, I never watched Oprah! (too busy reading ... and NOT Oprah's book club books... too much violence, sex, etc. for even my (then) heretical mind)

Hi, Rasha- I hope you have been well- busy I am sure.
As far as Oprah goes, I also have never been into Oprah. My mom used to watch Oprah all the time when I was younger, though. So, I have seen her shows before.
I would not presume to be able to speak for all women, but I think it may be a situation where Oprah "tickles the ears" so to speak. Some women may feel like they can watch Oprah and feel better about themselves because they can be "inspired" by all the "good things" she does, get their fill of "gossip" without feeling guilty because it is not a tabloid magazine they are reading but instead straight from the horse's mouth. Plus, Oprah does have a very engaging, bubbly, dynamic personality that I'm sure is magnetic for many women. Then, in vicarious fashion, they feel like they have done something good by watching Oprah instead of some soap opera, or reading one of her "fabulous" book club selections, or by getting themselves involved in whatever of her latest New Age poisons she is touting and thereby fulfilling their "spiritual needs".
I don't know, obviously my response was not very deeply thought out and I am sure there is more to it but but I thought I would throw out my preliminary 2 cents worth.
God bless!
