Well actually there are many problems with college but one of them is that they no longer teach the classics. Now granted I go to a secular college, but still, even secular colleges used to teach some of the classics.

I had a teacher in the education department (he was heretical but he was more of a conservative then any other professor I have had) told me that the education department took Plato out of the education curriculum altogether.

Additionally, a Spanish professor said that it used to be required of all Spanish majors to study Don Quixote. Now that is no longer required. That means there are Spanish majors who will graduate knowing absolutely nothing about Don Quixote.

They just keep you busy reading atheist communist Spanish republican garbage like Miguel de Unamuno, Federico Garcia Llorca, Pablo Neruda, Elena Poniatowska, and Ana Maria Matute (I am looking for a vomiting smilie, lol)

You have to study double- you have to learn the wrong stuff to get the degree and study the right stuff on your own. The problem is you don't learn the right stuff as profoundly as you would have if they just taught it in school.

Ok Rasha is done with his rant,
:afro:

I think we are having a Greek Roman thingy going on here. What I mean is that Asians seem to appreciate the classical west more than the West does itself. Like the Romans who copied the Greeks the Asians are copying the west. They even like Don Quiote:
