Chuck Colson is dead, and is in Heaven, too!
From the "Catholic" Education Resource Center:
How ("in the hell," pardon the pun) do they know this?? Did J. Fraser Field get a private revelation that he is not telling us about? No Purgatory? Just a "straight shot" to Paradise?! Wow!!! I wish that I could be so lucky when my time comes. I guess Purgatory is just for traddy Catholics, or worse yet, Hell for those schismatics who refuse to accept the fact that all of our "separated brethren" must all be in a perpetual state of invincible ignorance. Implicit faith/submission/desire will never be one of those "don't leave home without it," for once you've got it, it will always be with you! What a blessing!!
Charles W. "Chuck" Colson (1931- 2012) has gone home.
Known as "Nixon's hatchet man" for his role in the 1972 Watergate scandal, Colson spent seven months in Maxwell Federal Prison in Alabama in 1974. He emerged from his prison experience a new man with a zeal-filled Christian faith and a gospel-inspired mission.
Charles Colson would spend much of his energies for the rest of his life working to lead prison inmates to a better life through following Jesus Christ and embracing a Christian faith. The Prison Fellowship he established counts over 50,000 prison ministry volunteers and is active in 119 countries around the world.
As he told various Congressional committees and anyone who would listen: "The problem is not education, the problem in not poverty, the problem is not racism; the problem is the breakdown of moral values in American life, and the criminal justice system cannot respond."
Colson and his ministry responded.
Charles Colson was also a great friend of the Catholic Church and a leading figure with Father RIchard John Neuhaus in establishing bonds of brotherhood and trust between Evangelicals and Catholics. See a short video tribute to Charles Colson here. May he rest in peace. - J. Fraser Field
