Wasted money on Missalettes

Have you ever noticed how most parishes buy yearly throw-away missalettes/songbooks? Are you aware that they have been doing this for 40 years when in the Novus Ordo rite there is only Year I & II cycle of readings for weekdays and Year A, B, & C for Sundays?
I am going to do more research on the price of these and the number of missalettes in my parish and calculate about how much my parish spends, but I found this link here: http://www.wlp.jspaluch.com/8454.htm
