I've been working on this for a while now, and it's turned out very well, so I thought that I should share it with the forum:

1) Add the following ingredients (in order) to a large bowl:

4.5 cups of flour
2 tablespoons of baking powder
1 teaspoon of salt
3.5 tablespoons of sugar
4 cups of milk
3 large Grade A eggs
9 tablespoons of melted butter
3.5 teaspoons of vanilla (use the expensive stuff)

Be sure to use exact measuring utensils.

2) Whip thoroughly and let sit refrigerated for 8 hours (overnight).

3) Preheat burner to medium-high on a non-stick pan.

4) Poor cold batter, watch for bubbles (of course), flip, etc.

5) Apply cold butter and maple syrup immediately after each pancake is ready.

6) Enjoy!

Thanks for the recipe, I'll try it today (there's only so much Pro Multis one can cope with on an empty stomach).
I just hope this is a 'traditional' pancake recipe and that it will feed all that wish to eat them, which I'm sure will be many.

P.S, I notice you call these 'buttermilk' pancakes yet there is no 'buttermilk' specifically mentioned in the list of ingredients, although there is 'milk' and 'butter' listed separately.
Ummm! I think I might sit on the fence until I'm sure this is authentic and not a threat to my digestive system.
Has your recipe been approved by the AAPM (American Association of Pancake Makers)?

Thanks Jehanne.
The pancakes were delicious. I've only yet tasted them in desire due to an unforeseen situation arising preventing me from making them. I've eaten about a dozen so far but I'm still starving.
Mike why would that be? Can I eat another dozen or does ths desire thing only work when your on the point of starving to death. Can I eat by desire twice or does it just work as a one-off thing? My recipe for buttermilk pancakes. 13443

I think Jehanne should have made it clear that these pancakes are Pro multis. Definately not suitable "for all."

Maybe a disclaimer such as;

Warning! These pancakes are not suitabe for All. If you have a wheat allergy or if prone to high blood sugar levels, please consume in desire only!
Please contact the AAPM for further information.

Is this type of pancake even valid? I was brought up to believe that the only valid pancakes are Traditional Greek Pancakes (TGP). A lot of bakers argue that the recipe has changed and been modernised so much over time that they can no longer be worthy of even being called pancakes. For one, the ingredients have changed so much as to be unrecogniseable from the original, and have been diluted down over time. Different countries have now adapted the recipe to suit the particular tastes of that country. This has caused great division over traditional and modern pancake makers, so much so that traditional pancake makers are now afraid to speak out and tell the truth about the true recipe for fear that modern pancake makers (who now control the bakeries) will ridicule and ostracise them. But to me, it isn't worth a single death, people should decide for themselves which are the real pancakes after studying their history and having tried both. One will have to judge for themself on this issue as there is no longer any clear authority on what constitutes a valid pancake it seems.

Concerning valid pancakes.
"The matter is batter without any butter for butter makes fatter the eater.
The fatter the latter the better the batter; condemned." (Summa Pancakia, article 3)

Translated to Latin from google:

"In materia est PULSO sine butyrum butyrum enim facit pinguior comedentis.
In pinguior novissimis in melius PULSO; damnatus."

and translated back again to English (from google)

"In the RAP without butter, butter, because it makes the matter is the fatter of the eater.
The fatter the better end of the RAP; condemned."

Any heretics here want to question this?
