Somebody I wish I could have shared a pint with. Pope John's Council is a classic.

I know what you mean. I had the good pleasure of meeting Michael Davies in 2002 or 2003 at a Remnant Conference, but did not get the opportunity to share a pint with him; though I learned he held court at the bar in the Belloc-Chesterton tradition on one or more evenings.

This was during the famous public spat (in the pages of the Remnant) between Davies and Atila Sinke Guimares, who was also at the Conference; and I think many people were holding their breadths to see if there would be a confrontation -- there wasn't. Tom Woods, Chris Ferrara and John Vennari were also there and each of them gave a presentation.

I also met and hit it off with Gary Potter, and ran into him again at the 2003 St. Benedict Center Conference. Gary was thrilled to learn that my dad was an avid reader of the legendary Triumph Magazine (Gary was founding editor).

Great memories; thanks for the link ... what a nice tribute from a priest friend of Davies.
